Unity Hospital offers a number of educational and supportive services to the person diagnosed with breast cancer. The services are
designed to help during the period immediately after diagnosis and on an ongoing basis as needed.

Breast Cancer Support Groups
Ongoing support groups meet regularly throughout the year and welcome
new participants at any time. The purpose of these groups is to increase
survivorship skills and reduce stress through discussion and mutual support.
Finding your way as family & friends
Through viewing and discussion of the American Cancer Society’s finding your way video series, family members and friends of cancer patients learn
how to deal with a loved one’s cancer.
Look good, feel better
Through demonstrations in the use of wigs, scarves, hats and make-up, a cosmetologist assists individuals coping with cancer to look and feel
better. Each participant receives a complimentary gift of make-up.
Reach to recovery
Program of the American cancer society which facilitates contact between a woman newly diagnosed with breast cancer and a breast cancer survivor.
The volunteer may talk with you by phone, visit you in the hospital, or visit you at your home after you are discharged. The program provides
one-on-one support and suggestions from personal experience. Written information about prostheses resources and exercises is available.
Renewing life
Through a variety of exercises and discussions, participants learn practical skills and develop courage first to survive, then heal, and finally grow
for the rest of one’s life.
Tai Chi
Learn gentle movements to reduce stress and promote health.
