Specific ways to give

Recognize a Caregiver – Our Every Day Hero program allows you to make a donation in honor of one of your caregivers in recognition of the exceptional care they provided to you or a loved one.

Memorials and tributes – Create a lasting remembrance of a loved one or honor a person or event.

Matching gift program – Check with the human resources department at your workplace to see if your employer matches contributions.

Telefundraising - Occasionally, the New Ulm Medical Center Foundation reaches out to those who are familiar with the hospital by phone to raise funds for important projects. The callers have no medical history or other confidential information about you. In 2009, our phone campaigns benefited the Heart of New Ulm project and our Fund for Excellence.

Planned gifts – You want your gift to make a difference, but are concerned about your own future financial needs and those of your family. Planned giving provides a way to support the hospital right now without sacrificing your ability to meet current and future financial obligations. Planned gifts fall into three general categories:

  • Outright gifts—The Foundation has immediate use of donated assets, such as securities, tangible personal property, and some real estate.
  • Bequests—The donor uses or controls the asset during his or her lifetime and the Foundation receives the asset at the donor's passing.
  • Life income gifts—The donor makes a gift today and receives a stream of income for life. Upon the donor's passing, the Foundation has use of the remainder of the gift.

Planned giving is attractive to donors for many reasons. With a planned gift, donors can often give larger gifts than they thought possible and can:

  • receive a stream of income for life
  • often increase the yield they receive from their investments
  • benefit from a charitable income tax deduction
  • reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes or estate taxes

The benefits of planned giving provide the charity-minded donor with reasons to act sooner rather than later. We look forward to assisting you with your gift planning needs.
