River Falls Area Hospital expands 'Baby & Me' program
Thursday evening sessions provide a new option for parents and infants
RIVER FALLS, Wisc. 02/19/2008-- River Falls Area Hospital is excited to announce the expansion of its successful "Baby & Me" program. Baby & Me is a weekly play and discussion group for parents and infants. The weekly sessions, which have been offered Friday mornings since last July, will also be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings from February 28 to May 1.
"We recognize that not all parents are able to participate in daytime classes," said Heather Logelin, River Falls Area Hospital's director of community benefit. "Many parents work outside the home during the day, and some who are home are caring for multiple children. We hope that this new evening class will enable those families to access this service."
The group meets at the hospital and is facilitated by a trained parent educator. Topics include sleep, reading baby's cues, taking care of mom, baby sign language, massage, nutrition, separation anxiety, music and more. Families may join the group at any time and there is no charge for participation. To register, call the Family Resource Center St. Croix Valley at 715-684-4440.
The Baby & Me program is just one component of the hospital's "Success By 6" partnership with the Resource Center St. Croix Valley and the St. Croix Valley United Way. The Success By 6 initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of early childhood development, increase access to services, and advocate for public policies to improve young children's lives.
