Health care careers scholarship program
Application deadline for fall semester is May 15

RIVER FALLS, Wisc. 04/17/2008--

Non-traditional students pursuing degrees in health care have until May 15 to apply for a scholarship from the Kinnickinnic Health Foundation.

The goal of the Foundation’s Health Careers Scholarship Program for Non-Traditional Students is to increase the number of health care providers practicing in the region served by the Foundation. This region includes River Falls and the surrounding communities of Hudson, Ellsworth, Spring Valley and Prescott.

Scholarships of $500 per academic session are available to a limited number of eligible health care professional students. The number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the board based on the number of applicants and available funds.

To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must live or work in the region served by the Foundation and be accepted or enrolled in an accredited program. A student may be enrolled full-time or part-time. Applicants must have at least one year of work experience after high school; applications from high school seniors will not be considered. In selecting award recipients, preference will be given to applicants who are (1) pursuing degrees that meet an identified provider shortage in the region and (2) have a demonstrated commitment to practice in the region. Other factors that will favorably influence selection include a work history in a hospital, clinic or other medical setting; demonstrated financial need; and demonstrated potential for academic success.

Applications for fall semester are due May 15, 2008. Complete information and application materials are available by clicking on the “Foundation” link at www.riverfallsareahospital.com.
