Researchers at Piper Breast Center conducted a long-term study with 500 patients who had a sentinel lymph node biopsy. The study showed that the technique could be done accurately and save lives. Long-term follow up showed exceptional survival rates.
Today, sentinel lymph node biopsy is the preferred method for staging breast cancer and determining if cancer has spread into the lymph nodes.
